Applies to Launch Control XL 3 with Logic Pro 11 and above on macOS.
The following applies to Logic Pro on macOS only, not iOS devices. While there is no Launch Control XL 3 DAW script for iOS, it can still be used as a generic MIDI controller: Connect external devices with Logic Pro for iPad – Apple Support.
Update needed
Before proceeding, make sure your Launch Control XL's firmware is up-to-date using Novation Components.

Automatic Logic Pro Setup
Launch Control XL 3 uses the macOS Core MIDI driver, so you do not need to download or install a driver to use Launch Control XL 3 with a Mac. To set up Launch Control XL in Logic Pro, first you need to download the Logic Pro script installer from the link below:
Launch Control XL 3 Logic Script Integration Version 1.0
Quit Logic Pro, then run the script installer.
Once the installer is finished, connect Launch Control XL 3, ensure the firmware is up to date (Updating Launch Control XL 3 Firmware), and open Logic Pro. If you are prompted to automatically assign the controls, click Auto Assign.
If you do not click Auto Assign, or if the prompt does not appear, it can be enabled in Logic's Control Surfaces settings by enabling Auto for Launch Control XL 3.
Logic Pro → Control Surfaces → Settings…
If you've completed the setup correctly, the screen on Launch Control XL 3 should read “Logic Pro”, and the buttons and encoders should light up in DAW Mixer mode.
Additionally, when you press Mode to enter mode selection, Solo / Arm (DAW Control) and Mute / Select (DAW Mixer) should light up, indicating that the DAW modes are available. They will be lit dimly if another mode is selected, or brightly if a DAW mode is selected.
If you don't see any of the above after completing the automatic setup steps, you may need to set up Launch Control XL 3 manually. Follow the Manual Logic Pro Setup steps below.
Manual Logic Pro Setup
Before proceeding with manual setup, ensure you have tried the Automatic Logic Pro Setup steps above first.
To set up Launch Control XL 3 manually in Logic, you'll need to install a new control surface:
Logic Pro → Control Surfaces → Setup… → New → Install
Under Manufacturer, find Focusrite - Novation, and select the Model named LCXL3 1 — there are eight LCXL3 models, in case you are using multiple Launch Control XL 3s with different Device IDs (see Change Launch Control XL 3's Device ID).
Set the Output Port to LCXL3 1 MIDI In, and the Input Port to LCXL3 1 MIDI Out.
Your Launch Control XL 3 should now be functioning as described above in Automatic Logic Pro Setup. However, if you are having any issues after completing the steps above, try selecting Rebuild Defaults and repeating the manual setup steps.
Logic Pro → Control Surfaces → Rebuild Defaults
