There is an issue with Ableton Live 10 where the pad colours on your Launchpad or Launchkey may not look quite right. You can fix this problem right away by installing the colour files below. Alternatively, an update will be available from Ableton in the next couple of weeks, at which point we will update this article.
How to install the new colour files
The color files can be installed by simply copying them into the appropriate sub-directory inside Live’s Remote Script directory. To do so, please follow these steps:
1. If you have just installed Live and haven’t opened it yet, open and close it once. (Make sure it is closed before proceeding with step 2).
2. Navigate to Live’s Remote Script folder – here’s where to find it:
\ProgramData\Ableton\Live X.X\Resources\MIDI Remote Scripts\
In the above, X.X stands for Live’s version number.
Note that this folder is hidden by default. This article in the Ableton Knowledge Base explains how to access hidden folders.
On Mac OS, the Remote Script folder is located inside the Ableton Live application bundle. To access it, locate the Live application in Finder (by default it is installed in the /Applications directory), right-click on it and select "Show Package Contents" in the context menu. Then navigate to:
/Contents/App-Resources/MIDI Remote Scripts/
3. Replace the Colors.pyc file in the Launchpad_MK2/Launchkey_MK2/Launchpad_Pro directory with the relevant attached file (after unzipping).
4. Start Live.
