The Launchpad S will show the letter F or L when it is powered on to show which power mode it has booted up with, F represents full power mode and L represents Low power mode.

To change which power mode your Launchpad S is set to, hold the Session, user 1, user 2 and mixer buttons while plugging in the Launchpad S. You'll then enter the bootloader mode. Pressing the two red buttons here will toggle power modes, and you can see which power mode you have selected by pressing a red button and reading the scrolling text displayed on the Launchpad S.

In order to use the Launchpad S with an iPad, you must have the Launchpad S in Low power mode.
