The MiniNova does output MIDI data from its controls, but it should not primarily be considered a Control Surface.

The onboard MiniNova controls will output CC messages and its keys will send standard MIDI note Messages. You can assign the CC messages to parameters in your DAW if the DAW features a MIDI learn function, and the MIDI note data will likely trigger notes from your software instruments.

If you are interested in a Synth that doubles as a Control Surface, we recommend looking into the UltraNova, which has an Automap Mode where so it can function as a more fully-featured control surface.
