Applies to: ReMOTE LE
1.36 is the latest version of the ReMOTE LE operating system (OS). You can see the OS version on your unit on the display when you turn it on. If the version number displayed is less than 1.36 then you need to update the OS on your unit. To update your unit, follow these steps:
Mac
You can use a free application called SysEx Librarian to update the unit (download it from here). To update the ReMOTE LE, follow these steps:
- Download the ReMOTE LE OS update SysEx file attached to the bottom of this article.
- Connect the ReMOTE LE to your computer and turn it on, then open SysEx Librarian.
- Select 'ReMOTE LE' in the drop-down menu at the top of the SysEx Librarian window.
- Drag the correct ReMOTE LE OS update SysEx file (according to keyboard size) onto the SysEx Librarian window.
- Get the ReMOTE LE ready to receive the new OS by
- Pressing 'global' to enter the global menu.
- Use the octave up button to scroll to the 'New O/S from USB' page.
- Press 'write' so that the display shows 'Waiting Download New O/S…'
- In SysEx Librarian, click on the ReMOTE LE OS update SysEx file and then click the 'play' icon to send the data to the ReMOTE LE. Once the OS update has finished, the display will show 'Save new O/S?'. Press 'write' to save it, and then the ReMOTE LE will restart itself to complete the update.
PC
You can use a free program called MIDI-OX to update the unit (download it from here). We recommend installing the latest Novation USB drivers, available from the ReMOTE LE downloads page, before updating the OS from a PC. To update the ReMOTE LE, follow these steps:
- Download the ReMOTE LE OS update SysEx file attached to the bottom of this article.
- Connect the ReMOTE LE to your computer and turn it on, then open MIDI-OX.
- In MIDI-OX, select 'MIDI Devices…' from the 'Options' menu and select 'ReMOTE LE' in the Output list, then click 'OK'.
- Get the ReMOTE LE ready to receive the new OS by
- Pressing 'global' to enter the global menu.
- Use the octave up button to scroll to the 'New O/S from USB' page.
- Press 'write' so that the display shows 'Waiting to Download New O/S…'.
- In MIDI-OX, select 'SysEx…' from the 'View' menu to open the SysEx window, and then select 'Send SysEx File…' from the 'File' menu in the SysEx window. Select the correct ReMOTE LE OS update SysEx file (according to keyboard size) and click 'Open'.
- Once the OS update has finished, the display will show 'Save new O/S?' (you may have to wait a few seconds after the file has been sent from MIDI-OX before this appears). Press 'write' to save it, and then the ReMOTE LE will restart itself to complete the update.
- If the display shows 'Download new O/S Error Abort!' then adjust the 'Low-Level Output Buffer Size' in MIDI-OX by selecting 'Configure…' from the 'SysEx' menu in the SysEx window. Try 128 and then repeat steps 4-6. If that doesn't work, then keep on doubling the output buffer size until the update completes successfully.
