Ableton 12

Windows
To set the Launchpad X up with Ableton Live 12 please connect your Launchpad and then open Ableton.
Then go to the Preferences (Options > Preferences) and go to the Link/Tempo & MIDI tab:
Then select the Launchpad X as a Control Surface:
Then set the Launchpad X MIDI/LPX MIDI for the Input and Output ports, and then match the settings below:
Then have the MIDI port setup match the settings shown below:
Note that enabling MPE for the input port means that all MIDI channels are in use, so it's not possible to set a track to discretely respond to one MIDI channel. You may wish to disable it if not using Polyphonic Aftertouch data from the pads.
Mac
To set the Launchpad X up with Ableton Live 12 please connect your Launchpad and then open Ableton.
Then go to the Preferences (Ableton Live > Settings on macOS) and go to the Link, Tempo & MIDI tab:
Then select the Launchpad X as a Control Surface:
Then set the Launchpad X MIDI/LPX MIDI for the Input and Output ports, and then match the settings below:

Ableton 10
Windows
To set the Launchpad X up with Ableton Live 10 (minimum 10.1.3), please connect your Launchpad and then open Ableton.
Then go to the Preferences (Options > Preferences) and go to the Link/MIDI tab:
Then select the Launchpad X as the Control Surface:
Set the Launchpad X MIDI/ LPX MIDI for the Input and Output ports:
Then have the MIDI port setup match the settings shown below:
Mac
To set the Launchpad X up with Ableton Live 10 (minimum 10.1.3), please connect your Launchpad and then open Ableton.
Then go to the Preferences (Ableton Live > Preferences/Settings) and go to the Link/MIDI tab:
Then select the Launchpad X as the Control Surface:
And then set the Launchpad X DAW Out and DAW In for the Input and Output ports:
Then have the MIDI port setup match the settings shown below:
