You can use the Circuit to sequence external MIDI instruments. Plug one of the MIDI breakout cables (included in the box with Circuit) into Circuit's MIDI Out. Connect a MIDI DIN cable to this and to the Midi In of a synth like Bass Station II.

This is set up as per the key below.

• Synth 1 = MIDI channel 1
• Synth 2 = MIDI channel 2
• Drums 1 to 4 = MIDI channel 10

Adjusting the level in the mixer for Synth 1, 2 and Drums 1 to 4 will determine if the sequencer plays just the external instruments or combines them with the Circuit's internal sounds.
