Automap performs a check to see if the firmware on your Impulse is up to date. If new firmware is available Automap will automatically prompt you to update the Impulse. On rare occasions the update might fail. As an example, this might occur if the USB cable is disconnected whilst the update is being loaded onto the Impulse. If the update fails then the Impulse may stop working. You may also want to use this process to downgrade from the HUI enabled firmware. If this happens to you, please reload the firmware manually by following the relevant guide below:
Mac
Download and install SysEx Librarian. This be found by following the link below:
Download the attached .syx file. Hold down the 'Shift', '+' and '-' buttons of the Impulse then connect the USB cable. This will access the Boot menu. 'Exit' should be displayed on the Impulse's LCD.
Open SysEx Librarian and drag the .syx file into the SysEx Librarian window. Click on the 'Destination' menu and select 'Impulse'. Ensure that the .sys file is highlighted in blue by clicking on it. Click on the 'Play' button.
The Impulse's LCD should display the word 'Update'. Wait for the update to complete.
PC
Download and install MIDI-OX. This can be found by following the link below:
Download the attached .syx file. Hold down the 'Shift', '+' and '-' buttons of the Impulse then connect the USB cable. This will access the Boot menu. 'Exit' should be displayed on the Impulse's LCD.
Open MIDI-OX, click on the the 'Options' menu and select 'MIDI Devices'. Ensure that 'Impulse' is highlighted in the 'MIDI Output' section then click 'OK'.
Drag the .syx file into the MIDI-OX window. The 'SysEx View and Scratchpad' window should appear. Click on the 'Command Window' menu and select 'Send Sysex'.
The Impulse's LCD should display the word 'Update'. Wait for the update to complete.
Please note that If you are using the latest version of Automap on your computer then you may be prompted to update the Impulse again as the firmware attached to this article is a slightly older version.
