Native Instruments has opened up Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) to a range of external developers, including Novation. NKS allows users to have in-depth control over a range of NKS-compatible instruments and effects directly from their hardware controllers.
Owners of NKS-compatible hardware are also able to redeem a copy of Native Instruments’ Komplete 15 Select. To redeem this offer, please navigate to the My Software tab of your Novation account after registering your device by clicking here.

Get Komplete Kontrol Custom Modes
- First, with your Launchkey/FLKey connected, go to components.novationmusic.com and select ‘Manage’ your MIDI keyboard. If your device is not seen, please take a look at the following article
My Product Isn't Recognised in Novation Components
- On the left hand side search for the Komplete Kontrol Pads, select them and click send to your device as shown below.
- Repeat the above step for the Komplete Kontrol Encoders custom mode. This is not required for Launchkey Mini MK3.
Configure Komplete Kontrol
- Open Komplete Kontrol either as a plugin inside your DAW or as a standalone application
- Go to the menu bar and select
> Controller > Controller Manager as shown below
- Find and select your Launchkey/FLKey from the list of supported NKS hardware by double clicking on it.
Controls
First, enter the correct custom modes on your Launchkey/FLkey by holding down the shift key and selecting the custom modes Komplete Kontrol was sent to.
1- The Encoders allow you to adjust the 8 parameters on the current page in Komplete Kontrol
2- Pressing these pads switches to the previous/next preset for the current plugin
3- Pressing these pads switches to the previous/next plugin slot in Komplete Kontrol
4- Pressing these pads switches to the previous/next page of plugin controls
SL MKIII
Select the Template
The NKS integration on the SLMKIII uses Template 1 MIDI. To load this
- Press Shift and Sessions buttons to enter the Templates view.
- Select the Part you want to change using the soft buttons below the screen. By default, these Parts have the label ‘MIDI’.
- Use the left-most rotary to select Template 1 MIDI. The rectangle around the selected Template will turn grey while the Template loads, and white when the Template has fully loaded.
Configure Komplete Kontrol
- Open Komplete Kontrol either as a plugin inside your DAW or as a standalone application
- Go to the menu bar and select
- Find and select your SL MKIII from the list of supported NKS hardware by double clicking on it
Controls
1- The Encoders allow you to adjust the 8 parameters on the current page in Komplete Kontrol
2- Pressing these buttons switches to the previous/next preset for the current plugin
3- Pressing these buttons switches to the previous/next plugin slot in Komplete Kontrol
