Bitwig Setup
Launchkey MK4 is automatically detected by Bitwig 5.2.7. If you need to manually set up your Launchkey MK4, follow the steps below.
With Bitwig open and the Launchkey MK4 connected to your computer via USB, go to:
File > Settings > Controllers
- Under Hardware Vendor, select 'Novation'.
- Under Product, select 'Launchkey MK4' or 'Launchkey Mini MK4' (depending on your device).
- Click on Add.
The ports should be automatically set to the corresponding MIDI and DAW ports (below shown for a Launchkey MK4 37):
If set up correctly, the DAW, Plugin, Mixer, Sends, and Transport pads light up when you hold the Shift button on Launchkey. The controller feedback selection will also appear around the Bitwig Scene slots (shown in red in the example below):
Using Launchkey MK4 with Bitwig
Functionality on Launchkey MK4 in Bitwig includes:
- Launcher mode for the pads
- Sequencer mode for the pads (accessed by holding Shift and pressing the DAW pad twice)
- Drum mode for the pads
- Track Remotes for encoders
- Plugin mode for encoders to control devices
- Mixer mode to control volume/panning from the encoders
- Transport mode for the encoders
- Volume control from faders
- Undo/Redo control
- Metronome control
- Quantise control
- Play/Stop/Loop/Record control
