Before proceeding, make sure to update the firmware on your Launchkey MK4/FLkey 2 to the latest version using Components
This article will go through the process of setting up your Novation device in FL Studio with NKS for use in Komplete Kontrol.
FL Studio Setup
Please ensure your Launchkey/FLkey is set up in FL Studio correctly to begin with. Please take a look at our dedicated setup articles linked below if you have not done so already.
Edit your Controller Type
We need to alter the MIDI port on the Launchkey/FLkey.
In FL Studio, please navigate to:
- Options > MIDI Settings, as shown in the image below
- Select Launchkey MK4 MIDI (IN) or FLkey 2 MIDI (IN) in the input section and set the "Controller type" to "Forward CCs to current plugin Port 10"
The screenshot example below is using macOS with a Launchkey Mini MK4 25.
Setup Komplete Kontrol for FL Studio

This article will walk you through setting up the Komplete Kontrol custom modes in Components and configuring the Komplete Kontrol plugin to correctly recognise your Launchkey/FLkey.
With Komplete Kontrol open, please expand the 'Detailed Settings' (1) tab of this plugin by clicking the cog icon, and select the 'Plugin Options' (2) icon to reveal the following window:
- Set the MIDI Input port to 10
You can now return to the main window of Komplete Kontrol by clicking the 'Detailed Settings' cog again and deselecting the 'MIDI' window you had previously opened.
After completing the steps above, the encoders will allow you to have instant control over the parameters of Komplete Kontrol. With these controls, you can quickly shape the sounds to your taste and add movement to your performance.
