GarageBand for Mac Setup
GarageBand for Mac will automatically detect Launchkey MK4 as a MIDI controller, however, deeper integration and control can be achieved by installing the Logic Pro script.
To do so, download the Logic Pro script installer from the link below:
Quit GarageBand, then run the script installer:
Once the installer is finished, open GarageBand with Launchkey MK4 connected to your Mac - you may be prompted to Auto Assign controls, which you can accept by clicking on 'Auto Assing' (below shown for a Launchkey MK4 49 for example):
If you don't confirm the Auto Assign controls prompt at first or things are working, go to:
GarageBand > Settings
Under the Audio/MIDI tab, select your Launchkey in the 'MIDI Controller' drop-down menu (below shown for a Launchkey Mini MK4 37 for example):
Launchkey should then be set up automatically. If set up correctly, the DAW, Plugin, Mixer, Sends, and Transport pads light up when holding down the Shift button on Launchkey.
The GarageBand Control Surface selection should also appear next to your track(s):
The screen on your Launchkey should read "GarageBand", and you should see the pads light up to reflect the GarageBand tracks (top row of pads) and the track record enable states (bottom row of pads):
