It's reported that the firmware updater software for the Launchkey MK2 range, Launchpad Pro and Launchpad MK2 encounter an issue on later versions of macOS where the updater will not be able to report the firmware version. These products no longer receive development support, and so there will not be a resolution for this issue.
As these products have been out for a number of years, it's likely that units will have the latest firmware. The below sections include information about how to check the firmware version and which is the latest.
Launchkey MK2
You can check by holding Track Left and Right as you connect the USB cable, pressing Track Right until you see Fr on the screen and then pressing Record which will cause the display to show the version. The latest version is 145.
Launchpad MK2
For Launchpad Mk2, the firmware version can be checked by holding the Session, Mixer, User 1 and User 2 buttons and then pressing the second green pad from the left as shown:
The firmware version will be shown across the pads. The latest version is 182.
Launchpad Pro
To check the firmware version, hold Setup while powering the unit. Then press the second green pad on the bottom row.
The firmware version will be shown across the pads. The latest version is 171.
